About Us
It
all started in about 1996. I was a bride-to-be
planning my own wedding. My fiancé and I were frugal students, and I
was a bride on a budget.
Geneva
bakery in Colma, CA whipped up the BEST
cake I have EVER tasted: white chocolate frosting, white cake with
fresh raspberry filling. We saved the top in our freezer for our first
anniversary…but it never made it. I ate it ALL.
Just
like many other wedding planners, my desire to plan weddings came
from planning my own. I’m sure you’ve heard the story before. Bride
plans wedding, totally emerges herself in everything “wedding”, falls
in love with “wedding”, gets married and decides to become a wedding
planner! It’s called “wedding” withdrawal.
How
can you possibly *not* deal with color
swatches, fresh flowers, butter cream and live music on a daily
basis?
So I
did it. I became a wedding planner.
I
got certified with the Association of Bridal
Consultants and earned a Wedding Consulting certificate at SF State. I
planned weddings mostly by word of mouth from Tahoe to Marin and back.
I met a lot of wonderful people and established some great lasting
relationships.
Weddings
turned into baby showers, then 1st
birthday bashes, then auction dinners for elementary schools. And now?
I’ve chosen to keep my Saturdays and weeknights free to spend time with
my family, and do a select few events through out the year.
One
of my very favorite events, is a baby shower.
Mostly because, it's a chick fest! Generations of women come together
to celebrate, all aspects of baby showers are adorable, and the day is
filled with lots of "oohs" and "ahhhs". I'm happy to say that I've
planned as many baby shower personally, that I have professionally.
I've even been the guest of honor at baby showers, just a few times.
When
I’m not planning a big fat party, I’m in the kitchen baking,
mixing, creating and exploring. Do I bake and design cakes? You betcha.
Cakes marry the worlds of design and culinary - my two favorite things.
Do
I want to be a professional cake baker? No way,
I'll leave that for the pros. I’m perfectly happy baking cakes for
family and friends, and writing all about my favorite baby shower cake
ideas here for all of you.
Cheers,
and Enjoy.
