Baby Shower Cake
Decorations

Baby Shower
Cake Decorations are
fun aren't they? From sugar
flowers to piping,
from ribbons and ducks to peas in a pod,
baby shower
cake
decorations are fun. It ties in the themes of the event, the baby’s
nursery, or
the layette, and should be celebrated!
Let's face
it. What's a cake without the decor? With no decor it's like a clear
canvas,
awaiting to be transformed into anything your heart desires. So many
colors, so
many textures, so many styles. You may want to mirror something you've
seen in
a baby magazine, or come up with a creation with your baker that's all
your
own.
Whether
your confection matches the paper plates, the invitation, or the patter
on the
baby’s crip sheets...the thoughtfulness and creativity put into coming
up with
something that well represents the new baby, the mom-to-be, and the
event, will
be noticed and remembered by your guest of honor, and your guests. It
will also
be captured in photos and possibly video for you to remember for a
lifetime.
Baby
Shower Cake Inscriptions
Everyone's a sucker for tear jerker baby shower cake inscriptions
right? We have seen many, but only certain ones stand out. This is some
baby cake decorating that anyone can do!
Sugar
Flowers
Bringing dough to life by creating sugar flowers, also called
“confectionary art”, started in England. What does bringing it to life
mean? Well, if you've seen well made sugar flowers you would
know...they really look real. They have a porcelain
looking finish to them, sometimes incorporating the daintiest details
of something real, like veins in a leaf for instance. Color can be
added to the dough directly, or air brushed to create blends that are
so right on, that you really can't tell if they're real unless you
touch them.
Baby
Shower Cake Marzipan
Baby shower cake decorations using marzipan are often used to create
those cute figurines that are used as cake
toppers. Marzipan is mostly
used to mold edible sweets such as flowers, miniature fruit, figurines
(like for cake toppers) and anything else you can imagine.
Fresh
Fruit
A small chocolate covered strawberry? Kiwi fruit covered with fine
sugar? A couple of raspberries soaked in brandy? The choice is yours.
Cupcake decorations with fresh fruit is an easy and inexpensive way to
dress them up.
Dragees
or Sprinkles
Oh so easy, the easiest of all cupcake decorations. Dragees and
sprinkles come in dozens of different styles. All you have to do is
pick one and sprinkle them on your cupcakes. Done!
Royal
Icing Designs
Flowers, butterflies, hearts, or any shape that complements your
wedding. They can be custom made in any size, color or shape and are
edible! Royal
icing is made from gently beaten egg white, lemon or lime
juice and powdered sugar. The egg whites are sometimes substituted with
meringue powder, to avoid risk of salmonella. Alternatively,
pasteurized and refrigerated egg whites can be used. This frosting
dries hard pretty quickly, and is commonly used for cupcake decorations.
Chocolate
Swirls of dried chocolate, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate shavings,
chocolate chunks, Hershey's kisses, molded chocolate designs, or
anything else chocolate you can think of!
