Cupcake Containers

Cupcake containers make for great favors at baby showers, or just give guests the opportunity to take home any leftover desserts.

Single piece cupcake boxes come in a variety of colors (mostly solid), like gold, silver, matte brown and white. We have also seen them in clear or frosted PVC. Wilton carries many striped or patterned boxes, or ones that have seasonal imprints. Many of them are made of cardboard with plastic windows on the top, so you can see the cupcake through the top. Whatever box you choose, make sure it has an insert to hold the cupcake steady. Otherwise, there’s a big chance the cupcake will topple over in the box, make a mess, and get smashed.

The thing we love, is that you can decorate the cupcake boxes any way you wish. You can wrap a ribbon around it and tie a bow, or glue on miniature rattle, pacifier, or a thank you shower message. Lots of baby shower hosts resort to the scrapbooking section of their local craft store for ideas on how to decorate the cupcake boxes. There’s paper flower cut-outs and other baby themed embellishments readily available at craft stores to dress up your box to look buttoned up and custom to your event.

Another option for a cupcake container is to use Chinese take-out boxes, as these can be a tad less expensive. They are lots and lots of colors available. They also come with handles. If the take-out box doesn’t have an insert to hold the cupcake steady (which most don’t) we don’t recommend this option. You don’t want a mess in your Chinese take-out box. You could also come up with something unique that’s all your own, like placing your cupcakes in an upside down clear plastic or colored paper cup. The cups will need to have lids secured to their bottoms to keep the cupcake from falling out. You could cut two holes in the top of the cup and string through a small ribbon to make a handle. The cup could be decorated with a printed label, or some other baby themed decor.
