High Altitude Baking

Hi Everyone! I'm curious about guidelines for high altitude baking. I'm hosting a baby shower for my dear friend who lives in the high Sierras. I believe she lives at 7000 feet. I plan to bake cupcakes for her shower when I get there, but wanted to plan ahead for any special requirements for baking at high altitude. I've heard that you need to adjust the baking time or temperature, or even alter the ingredients. Does this depend on the recipe and what you're baking, or is there a general rule out there that I should follow?
